I'm just going through some old photos, and seeing what I can make from them. This set is from a trip to the UP, the first and most recent trip back since I left MTU, in February of 2023.
The drive up surely wasn't nothing... I made sure to take a lot of pictures from the car. Most UP trips are mostly car by volume, so if you're not taking pictures on the drive, you're not taking pictures of the trip!
I often find myself astonished by how much of this state we've devoted to roads. It shows up in my photography. Then again, what the hell else is there to take pictures of from a moving car.
I think this one does a really good job of conveying motion. and, er, intentionality.
The things the lake does when it freezes are so fascinating-
this is the one picture I took and liked in Marquette. Beautiful city, I got to walk around for a few hours. Very little to do after business hours but drink though.
Back when I lived in Houghton, I would walk nearly every day down to take pictures of this bridge at sunset. I bought this camera several years after moving away, but it was important to me to pay homage to that practice (and get better pictures!)
Do NOT feed the birds.
For years, this sign at an abandoned fast food joint wouldn't get out of my head. I've thought about it for so long. It was there when I first moved in to Tech all those years ago, and it's probably still there, turning 40 into however many more.
Not 40 good years. Not great years. Not even terrible ones.
Thank you for 40 years.
