Yeah, that’s right. I’m doing another thing. I’m still working on Reka, but this is another thing I’ve been wanting to do for a while, so here it is.
In 2022, I’m going to listen to a new album every week. Then I’ll write a post about it.
This sounds really obnoxious, but I don’t actually expect or want anyone to read these posts or care about them. Since running a radio show on WMTU a few years back, I’ve realized that I need some way to force myself to find new music in order to not just listen to some album on repeat for months. I also want to start thinking a little more intentionally about the music that I listen to because music is something that means a lot to me. It would also probably be good for me to have to write something every week.
Here are the rules (I’m making them up now):
No albums from the same genre in the same month (So I have to shake it up)- For this rule, I assume that every album by the same artist is also in the same genre.
I can only use 1 album that I’ve already heard before per month
A favorite song from each album goes on the “Album A Week Hits 2022” playlist, which has a terrible name
Posts come out every Friday; At the end of every post, I pick the next album.
I don’t see why there needs to be any more rules than that, so there we are. I’ll probably listen to every album at least three times before writing about it (Maybe in different contexts! Getting ready, doing homework, what else do I do in a day, ) so I know what I’m talking about.
This/Next week’s album is: Woodface, by Crowded House.
I don’t know anything about this group and I don’t know how their song “Four Seasons In One Day” got on my “Consider For…” playlist, but that’s how I got there.
